Step 1

Fill the bottom with just off boiling water.

Step 2

Fill the basket with fresh medium-fine-grind coffee. Use a water-to-coffee ratio of 10:1 here. As we’re using a 240ml moka pot, we’ve got 24g of coffee.

Step 3

Don’t tamp your coffee – tap the cap to settle it.

Step 4

Rest your coffee on the top of the base and screw your moka pot together. Use a tea towel to avoid burning your hands.

Step 5

Put your moka pot on the hob and open the lid so you can check how it’s brewing.

Step 6

Turn on the heat. You want to make sure you’re brewing on the lowest flame possible. Start on a low flame and continuously reduce it as the coffee flows through.

Step 7

The only point you should see spluttering is when all the liquid coffee has come through, and the brewing has finished.

Step 8

Enjoy your coffee.
