If we made you choose, which would you pick: rich, creamy chocolate or smooth, aromatic coffee? Well, the good news is, you don’t have to! Just put them both together, friends - because from mocha to tiramisu, it’s a marriage written in the stars.

This heavenly food and drink combo is not the only reason we’re partnering with Tony’s Chocolonely for World Chocolate Day. Like Pact, they are campaigning for transparency within an industry that’s facing many serious and difficult challenges and actively working to transform it from the inside out.

Who are Tony’s Chocolonely?

A picture of a documentary and chocolate bars

In 2005, Investigative Journalist Teun van de Keuken and his team launched Tony’s Chocolonely in direct response to what they had learned whilst making tv documentary, Food Unwrapped. During production, the team discovered widespread slavery and illegal child labour on West African cocoa farms - the origin of 60% of the world’s cocoa.

When it became clear that none of the major chocolate companies were willing to engage with them in fighting this, they took matters into their own hands. Through Direct Trade and forging long-term relationships with farmers, they’ve created a transparent supply model all the way from bean to bar. They pay farmers a higher price than Fairtrade to ensure they can earn a real living, support projects to end slavery in West Africa - and they make amazing chocolate too!

Pact + Tony’s Chocolonely = Perfection

Since coffee is chocolate’s flavour soul mate, it’s always a good time to indulge in the highest-quality of both. So if you’re wondering which Tony’s Chocolonely bars will go with your Pact brews, we’ve got your back:

Planalto and Milk Caramel Biscuit 32%

Planalto is a remarkably rich and creamy coffee, like a thick chocolate malt milkshake. It pairs wonderfully with Tony’s Chocolonely’s Milk Caramel Biscuit – a luxurious milk chocolate packed with chunks of crunchy biscuit and rich, chewy caramel. Trust us, it’s a decision you will not regret.

Bourbon Cream Espresso and Dark Almond Sea Salt 51%

We can’t talk about chocolate without mentioning our much-loved Bourbon Cream Espresso. The intense chocolate flavours of this El Salvador and Brazil blend make it a spectacularly good companion to Tony’s Chocolonely’s Dark Almond Sea Salt. This smooth dark chocolate bar boasts both impeccable flavour and fabulous texture from the almonds and sea salt - this chocolate is dangerously moreish.
