Sadly, gender inequality is still rife in the Brazilian coffee industry. The country produces around a third of the entirety of the world’s coffee, and many, many women play pivotal parts in making this happen.
But they’re all too often excluded from buying meetings, and it’s the men who have all the say on top-line decisions.
That’s where Cafeína comes in. It’s a collective of 1868 women farmers who produce fantastic coffee in the country. Each member owns a small, great-quality coffee farm, and every single bean they sell helps them to recruit more members.
Cafeína was formed in 2019 to empower, motivate, and inspire women and to give them rightful visibility in the industry.
It’s a meeting point for the members to get together, take part in regular training sessions, learn skills, and share tips on taking their coffee from strength to strength.
