Iced coffee just doesn’t deliver
Most iced coffee either tastes of nothing or has an off, sour flavour that has to be masked with syrups and flavourings. There’s nothing like the aftertaste of disappointment on a hot day - all you wanted was a tasty coffee that hits the spot like a refreshing cold drink. Is that so much to ask?
For most roasters, it is. The quality of the beans and the brewing method sets the coffee up for an unstable and unpleasant flavour - making it reliant on a tonne of additives to make it palatable.
There are a lot of cold brews on the market that promise a better flavour - but many canned coffees have the same problem as their iced counterparts. Too many ingredients and too little craftsmanship in the brew.
