They’re a perfect match. Sugary buttercream, cloying jam, soft sponge – and cut through by a sip of something hot, black and delicious. Mmm. And now we’re hungry.
And that’s why we’re getting excited for what is (in our humble opinion) one of the best days of the year. Beating any bank holiday, it’s tastier than Christmas. It’s a whole coffee morning to enjoy both of them together… and all for the sake of charity!

Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is back on the 27th September (though you can hold one on any date that suits!). The fundraising coffee-and-cookies-a-thon started in 1990 and it’s still going strong… as some things just don’t go out of style.
How does it work? Someone hosts, other people bake and brew, and everyone donates to Macmillan Cancer Research in lieu of paying for their coffee and cakes.
We’re hosting our own coffee morning in the office, and frantically working out what chocolate-covered delights to bring in (look out for photos on the big day!). If – like some of us – you’re going to your own coffee morning but aren’t sure what to make, we’ve got some ideas…

Not got a coffee morning to go to? Don’t miss out! Make yourself something to enjoy at home and, if you feel led, donate to Macmillan Cancer Research here. Cake, coffee and charitable giving – now that’s a good way to spend a lazy morning.
