Ahh, National Donut Week. The perfect excuse to buy and eat a lot of donuts – all while supporting The Children’s Trust! Gluttony and charity, all wrapped into one, for a week conveniently located reassuringly far from summer.
And what better to pair it with than a warm, comforting cup of coffee? And luckily for you, we’ve got some tips on making sure you match them up perfectly:
- Cinnamon ring, with Fazenda Chapada
That delicate cinnamon flavour would pair deliciously with something chocolatey, for a churros-like experience. We think Fazenda Chapada, with its milk chocolate and caramel notes, would go down a treat!
- Sugar-coated and jam-filled, with Planalto
The classic – whether it’s in a pack of six from Sainsbury’s, or still warm from a rural bakery. The sweetness of the jam and crunchy sugar demands something rich, creamy and with milk chocolate notes. Try Planalto, our Great Taste Award winner, for something dark and dreamy.
Other doughnut shops are available (find one taking part here) – but this is Head of Coffee Will’s no. 1 choice. The fresh banana custard inside demands a fruity, light roasted coffee for the perfect match. Try Remera Lot 11, with its blackcurrant and cranberry flavours and touch of basil!

Or if you say “no” to the dough, then donate to The Children’s Trust anyway. They support children with brain injuries around the UK, so it’s a very worthy cause!
